TYPE 2 DIABETIC SUBJECTS NEEDED FOR STUDY
You are invited to participate in a research study if your blood sugars consistently run high, you are a male or female with type 2 diabetes, non-smoker, currently not pregnant or breastfeeding a child, in general good health, and between the ages of 30 and 55. The purpose of this study is to use an MRI exam to measure the concentrations of glutathione and vitamin C in the brains of normal healthy persons and type 2 diabetic persons. The study will look at the relationship between chronic hyperglycemia and the levels of these naturally occurring chemicals in the brain. If you qualify as a participant, the study would require you to have a physical exam, give blood and urine samples, complete a food questionnaire, keep a food diary for one week, take two MRI scans, and receive an infusion of vitamin C. Participants who qualify for the study will be paid for their time. To see if you might qualify for this study, please contact Jo Ann Lierman, RNC, PhD at 913-588-0060.
